Publisher files saved as PDF do not appear as expected

When I save a Publisher file as a PDF, the files saved as PDF do not appear as expected. The output sometimes appears in wrong order, has wrong font or different color.

Answer

There are quite a few reasons why the Publisher files saved as PDF may not appear as expected. For instance:
  • The file wasn’t saved using optimized output options. To save using customized options, save the files as PDF in the save as type. Click Options and in the Publish Options, click the optimization in theSpecify how this publication will be printed or distributed list that matches the needs of the publication. To print or save the PDF for proofing, click High quality printing.
  • The default printer is a black & white, not a color-printer. Try changing the default printer to a color-printer.
  • The font needs to be changed. If a particular font doesn’t look the same in the PDF file as it does on your screen, try using a different font such as Arial or Times New Roman.
  • You are using a third party PDF writer or an older version of Adobe Reader. Install a newer version from the Adobe site: http://www.microsoft.com/typography/AboutFontsOverview.mspx
